State Inspections / Emissions Required by PA dept of transportation. Each year a licensed inspector will check each of the systems required for inspection. Systems include: suspension components, steering, brakes, tire, wheels, lights, horn, glass, mirrors, washers/wipers, fuel system, speedometer, odometer, exhaust, body, and chassis. Emission System- What is it? - Your car’s emission system keeps the engine running clean and efficient. If your car’s engine is not performing correctly or the “CHECK ENGINE” light is on, have it checked as soon as you can. Failure to do so can reduce your mileage per gallon of fuel or cause your vehicle to pollute! What does it do? – Your car’s emission system controls the emissions, exhaust and pollutants using sensors, computer monitors in the engine and exhaust. The emission system substantially reduces harmful gases such as carbon monoxide (CO), unburned hydrocarbons (HC), and oxide3s of nitrogen (NOx), and prevents gasoline vapors from leaking from the fuel tank. |
